Elma announces unique Rugged VXI Enclosure
Elma Electronic Inc., a global
manufacturer of electronic packaging
products, has announced a unique
rugged COTS VXI enclosure for
instrumentation systems. The unit is
ideal for airborne, shipboard, or
ground mobile applications where VXI
for instrumentation is utilized.
Elma brings rugged instrumentation to the COTS marketplace with
the 5U
VXI 12R2 chassis. It allows six cards in the size "C" 6U
x 340mm
format to be loaded (up to 13 slots is optional in other size
chassis). The horizontal-loading orientation of the chassis saves
rack space.
With Elma's modular design concept, units can be quickly, easily,
and
cost-effectively developed in other heights and orientations.
As with all of Elma's COTS Enclosures, the rugged VXI units are
designed to withstand the harsh demands of a military environment
and
use honeycomb filters, braided gasketing and metal impregnated
sheets to
seal off all external seems. Various options of rope-coil isolators,
air springs, and elastomeric isolators are available for shock
and
vibration. The 12R2 chassis can withstand up to 25 G's of force.
Features of the VXI 12R2 line include a large patch panel for
I/O
located on the rear of the chassis, 2 handles per side for easy
lifting
and power supplies for up to 750 - 1000W. Standard power supply
voltages are +/- 24V, +/-12V, 5V, and 3.3V. Exceptional front-to-rear
cooling is achieved through a Rear Evacuative Cooling system often
using
2 x 470 CFM Free Air Blowers. System monitoring LEDs for DC Voltages,
over-temp and fan fail are standard.
